Left home heading west..
Clothes, supplies and toys packed, we’re ready to get rolling. The drive was fun with Samantha (Sam) as we headed west towards Deep Creek Lake. Once at our hotel we decided to head to the lake and check it out.
The Inn we stayed at was historic and very nice. Sam and I enjoyed ourselves here even though it was only a home base. Sam was even recruited by the owner/groundskeeper to help with flower pruning duties, which Sam eagerly responded. The Casselman Inn

Fun on the Lake
The lake is the epicenter of most things out here and it’s huge and beautiful. Samantha and I devoted an entire day to Jet-ski around the lake and explore it’s many coves. While a bit scary at first after a while I learned when I could hit the throttle and when to slow down. Unfortunately a cool front had come through the night before so the day, while bright and sunny, was quite cool to be on the water in bathing suits. Sam did a great job at tolerating it and enjoying herself.
After a couple hours we decided it was time to head back and return the boat. We both exclaimed that we had great fun and would do it again. Once back at the car we headed to the best BBQ joint in the area, Archies, BBQ. While Sam doesn’t really like BBQ she was happy to eat mac-n-cheese while I gorged myself on some fresh pulled pork. It was soooo good and I’ll remember to go back there next trip.
After this we headed back to our hotel so we could each warm up. We each took our shower then talked and walked around the grounds of the historic hotel. Sam even got into some flower pruning duties with the owner. She is such a willing soul. it was a smooth ending to an actively fun day.
Jetskiing was very cool

Horseback Riding and the Beach
On what would be our last day out we decided that after a relaxing breakfast we’d visit the Circle R Ranch for an hour’s trail ride (of course, with Sam being the horse fanatic she is :-). The stables were nice and the horses accommodating. Sam and I had a fun time walking and talking through the area fields and woods. Once we finished the ride we decided to head to the public beach to swim, play and relax. The sun was arm and the water refreshingly cool. We both had fun and didn’t want to leave. Eventually we did.
After a nice dinner at the hotel we called it a day. The next morning we packed and were off towards home. An awesome trip with an awesome daughter. Maybe we’ll come back next year…

Heading Home
It was an incredible fun time spend with my littlest girl and we can’t wait to come back again.
